Part 1: Viv Read and Julie Cunningham - Complex Facilitation & Sense-making

The Lounge is excited to welcome Viv Read and Julie Cunningham of Complexability.com.au for Part 1 of a discussion of their work with sense-making frameworks and complex facilitation. Viv and Julie are leading lights in both the sense-making and Cynefin communities. So if you want to see sense-making in action you should sign up now.

With an emphasis on the practical application of complexity tools and methods, Viv and Julie will share an overview of their recent work. This includes:

- SenseMaker projects in community services - mental health, children services, Meals on Wheels, youth justice
- Complex Facilitation Intensive (14-week) program
- Development of Third Space methods - weaving complexity theory and Indigenous Knowledges to create blended tools and methods
- Complexity Literacy for Community Activators and non-professional Facilitators
- Distributed Research project - Complexity, Ethics, and Decision-Making

Julie Cunningham
Julie draws on a background in organizational development and systems change to engage with clients in processes that support their understanding of complexity and their ability to take action. Julie works closely with organizations to help lift performance through capability cultivation and building. In the past 5 years, she has expanded her practice to more deeply embrace complex methods including narrative research and complex facilitation.

Viv Read
Viv is acknowledged as a leading practitioner in the design and implementation of complexity-based tools and methods in a wide range of organizations and contexts in Australia and South East Asia. She has been involved in over 30 narrative research projects in systems change, stakeholder engagement, culture change and strategy, and innovation. She has an international reputation in the delivery of complex facilitation.
